In a drive to modernize its fleet of busses, the Government of Sri Lanka has placed an order for 2,200 buses with Ashok Leyland making it one of the largest purchases by the Sri Lankan Transport Board to improve the public transport network in the country.
Over the next 6 months Ashok Leyland will supply these 2,200 buses. This order reinforces Ashok Leyland’s position as the market leader in Sri Lanka and as an important stakeholder in Sri Lankan transport.
Vinod K. Dasari, Managing Director, Ashok Leyland, commenting on the new order, said that it is a huge order, especially at a time when the domestic market is just about to bounce back. The new order reaffirms the company’s strategy to substantially enhance their sales outside India.
